Any suggestions on the best material to use to trim this skylight?
Whichever material I use, it can only be attached at the bottom of the insulation; there's no structure at the top to attach anything.

Looks like it was painted once and there is some flaking caused by condensation. I would shy away from painted wood trim and maybe use white PVC lumber trim. It comes in plain rectangular cross section and fancy shapes like baseboard. I would just nail it at the bottom where there is solid framing. Caulk the cracks with a product made for PVC trim. A trip to the apron or vest stores will show you what they have.

I couldn't tell what was going there. Are you saying someone painted the insulation? The only other thing I could think of was drywall but then I have to make multiple trips to sand, mud and paint. Thanks guys, I'll look for some pre-finished type of board.

Here's the final result. I ended up using corrugated white plastic because what I thought was structure was just flimsy plastic from the skylight which meant I couldn't use any wood.

Thanks guys. I have to be more disciplined about posting completed work pics.😐

I’d try white pvc 3/4” thick material. A little pricey but you’ll never be up there painting it.
