Can't bake in oven and cook on range at the same time.

Jeff, I don't know the make/model from the top of my head, I'll get it when I get home and post up. I have no idea if it had a built-in regulator. It is now at the scrapyard. What would it mean if there was/wasn't ?

Can't bake in oven and cook on range at the same time.

We just bought a new gas oven to replace failing unit and it is pretty awesome, except for the fact that we can't bake and cook on the range at the same time. If the oven is on, the range will light but only about a third of the normal flame. I did have to convert it to propane, pretty sure...

    Heater vent removal clean-up

The previous owners of my house had some kind of gas fireplace or propane heater or something. They vented through the living room wall to the deck. When they removed it, they covered the interior wall hole with paneling and left the exterior hole in place, with the vent cover, stuffed full with...

    Solar Tubes

I just installed one of these last night, in about 3 hours, in a bathroom with no windows. This morning, I took a shower and got ready for work without having to have lights on. I highly recommend these.

    On-demand water heaters

What's the break even point, i mean after how long does it pay for itself? Most of the green (especially solar) solutions I see today have a break even point of over a decade. Some solutions I have seen need replacement parts every 8 years that break even every 10.

    Max Stairway Incline

If you do construct a staircase, consider making the rises a drawer: http://www.inhabitat.com/2007/06/11/a-brilliant-storage-idea-staircase-drawers/ and, like the comments say, it would be wise to slop them so they want to stay closed.

    retaining wall - advice?

It will be a semi-circular wall, 24 inches high, encompassing a garden. the back wall is the block wall foundation (that has been dry-locked). The blocks are 8x12x6. Since the block has a lip, i hope to keep it dry. If i see shifting, i think i will likely try a 'liquid nail' mortar. pea...

Tips for converting brush to lawn

so far i've: weed-whacked the offending brush raked the majority into the compost heap mowed the brush stubs quite low (using the "mulch" feature) "roughed up" the soil, and planted seed watered the seed seeing as there's a decent amount of humus and then deteriorated leaves and...

tree stump how do I get rid of it?

if you've got deer in the area that aren't too shy, pour saltwater on the stump. they'll dig the stump apart to get to the salt. hey, it works in the country.

    setting flagstone pathways in lawn

Hi all, A thousand pardons if this is deemed the wrong section. I've got a truckload of flagstone, all layed out how she wants it. My plan was to slice the sod in the shape of the stone, and then dig the soil underneath to make sure the stone was set flat; this way they were below...

    Island range hoods/vents

hm... i wonder if hemi's have a cats/gallon measurement. yeah right, even if it was 0.00001 it'd still be worth it.

    Island range hoods/vents

interesting... that adds a bit to the total cost of a hood, that's for sure. How would you damper and regulate the 'make-up' duct? Would it have a fan as well, or just rely on the difference in air pressure? do you think i could make it suck a certain cat into the stratosphere?
