    Ceiling fan wiring issue

So... I pulled down an old ceiling fan that came with my house expecting to find the sensor for the remote that operates it. As it turns out, the sensor was installed in the attic, in a very difficult place to access. I'm fine with using the old remote, so I just need to wire the new fan to...

Finishing a basement - Flooring options?

I would love to do an acid stained concrete floor, as I have experience with that, but again, it's a very sloped floor. Tile would be my first choice, but same problem. I guess I will just have to build a sub floor on top of the concrete. I suppose I can cover it with whatever I choose.

Finishing a basement - Flooring options?

I would definitely like to divide it and have a bath/laundry room and an office area. I have not been able to find any water coming in.

Finishing a basement - Flooring options?

I want to start finishing a basement of a house that I will be moving into, and I'm curious what my best options are for flooring. I was hoping to just lay tile and install new drains on top of the old ones, but unfortunately the floor just isn't level enough for that and there are large slopes...

What would you do with this driveway?

These are all pictures from the listing. Like I said, it needs a lot of cosmetic work. I'll probably start with new floors, paint and trim before I move in. I'll gut the bathroom, but not until I have put a second bathroom in the basement. The window in the bathroom actually looks out into...

What would you do with this driveway?

I think it will be good. Structurally the house is solid. There are no indications of water ever coming in through the roof or basement. There is no dipping or warping in any of the floors. It just needs A LOT of cosmetic work. All of the flooring needs replaced, unless the hardwoods...

What would you do with this driveway?

Ok, thanks. I'm not a flipper yet. I plan to live in and remodel this house for probably a year, at which point I will begin looking for another and turn this into a rental. I would like to flip, but not until I have enough cash flow from rental properties to really dedicate myself to it. I...

Is this a lousy granite installation?

Absolutely. Take them to court ASAP. They absolutely should have to pay to have a professional replacement installed.

What would you do with this driveway?

I don't know, that's a new one to me. I'll have to look into it. You would think even local governments would have better uses for their time.

What would you do with this driveway?

Thanks, I like that. I think this is the route I may go.

What would you do with this driveway?

Both garages are going to be used as garages, not having a driveway on the left isn't an option. The question really is should it be a single car width driveway, double (as it originally was) or should I pave from the left edge of the garage on the left all the way over to the right edge of the...

What would you do with this driveway?

This is a house I am purchasing for remodel. I will say that the driveway is not as long as it looks in the photo. It is just a weird angle or something from Google Street View that makes it look like the house sits farther from the street than it really does. Both garages are functional...

    Can this floor be salvaged?

I love it. :) Is there stain mixed with the Waterlox used in the Finishing Guide videos?

    Can this floor be salvaged?

Thanks woodgirl. I think I have come down on the side of leaving the black spots alone. If nothing else, it will save me time that I can spend in other areas of the house.

    Can this floor be salvaged?

I haven't, but the floor is in pretty good shape. I really don't think it needs much sanding, especially if I go with a little bit of a darker stain. I think it's worth a shot, at least.

    Can this floor be salvaged?

Nestor - Thanks! That's got to be the most thorough answer I've ever gotten on an internet message board. You may well have just saved me countless hours and money. I imagine I would've spent a great deal of time trying to sand that off. The house is an REO, so I don't have to worry about...

    Can this floor be salvaged?

The house I'm buying has hardwood floors thoughout. They look great... with the exception of black spots around every nail in the floor. I'm not sure what it is or how deep it goes. I just wonder if it's worth trying to refinish them.

Need advice on a porch remodel.

I'm in the middle of purchasing a home to renovate. The porch is a bit of an eyesore so I would like to install brick around it and make the pillars on each end brick. Here is the house now: One of the problems is the concrete slab is cracked, which is what's causing the awning to dip...
