    Heats out, thermostat singed

So, I wake up and my HVAC system isn’t working. The thermostat was off and the breaker not tripped. I take off my thermostat from the wall and find this. What would have suddenly caused this to happen? And what’s the fix? 11 year old house and unit.

    Can anyone identify this?

So, I tossed some rat poison pellets under my house at this exact spot about 6 months ago. Got under there today and it looked like this grainy stuff, which was still stuck together and not loose. Also with it was this random standing liquid, part of it black and part of it with black larvae in...

Noise coming from where floor meets the wall

The wall in both of these photos is the same wall separating both rooms in the photos. The black circled area is where the popping sounds come from. The sounds were completely absent in the spring and summer but have came about since it got cool out and our heat started to kick on. Any idea of...

    Popping tile

Any idea what causes a tile to "pop" when you step on it? I have one tile in a bathroom that will pop when you step on it in the winter, in the summer it stops. Now, during summer, a separate tile in another part of the bathroom pops when stepped on, but that one stops in the winter. It is...

    Dishwasher water inlet valve

My water inlet valve has a slow drip leak where it connects to the dishwasher. The leak is not coming from the connector where the water supply connects. It is leaking when it is not running. Erosion on creek bank

We suffered through a flood of our property and crawl space about a year ago, which filled the creek and eroded the bank. The flood water came from the creek. We paid to have the creek dipped and had that soil put back on the bank. Recently, it got really high and in the edge of the yard again...

    Living room furniture

What's the best material to have if you have a indoor dog? I have a 65 pound English bulldog. She sheds and her nails stay fairly sharp. We currently have a corduroy fabric style couch. Her hair gets on it and is sometimes difficult to remove. It also holds her scent longer since it's so porous...

    Shower floor

My shower floor is a fiberglass pan. In the spring and summer, or when it's warm outside, my shower floor creeks a bit at the drain when I step on it. After it creeks, the noise will cease until after I get out and get back in. Almost as if it gets pushed down, stays down, and comes back up when...
