    bathroom sink stop doesn't stop

I got a faucet and drain from my mom, it's about 2-3 years old, got it all hooked up and tried drain stop and it only slowed the water down. Everything is nice and tight and the sealed piece sits nice and flush. Does it need more adjustment underneath?

Converting storage bench into t.v. stand

We have kind of a weird setup in our basement. At the end of the room is a built-in storage bench, kind of like what would be in a mud room, but nowhere near any doors. What I am looking to do is make it into a two-shelf tv stand. One shelf is on the floor and the top is the second shelf. From...

We have an exterior metal door and the plastic seal on the bottom is ripped to shreds. What's the name of it, and how do I replace it?

What do you think this is worth?

I bought this vinyl flooring a few years back thinking we were going to use it in our basement. Plans changed and I'm trying to sell it on Facebook. I have 15 boxes it comes prepadded I'd like $500 for it but everyone keeps offering $300

need some advice before i get myself in trouble.

our house isn't too big, and only really needs two sides scraped, of course, they're the tall sides. I'm not trying to make the house look perfect, just don't want it to look junky 😁

need some advice before i get myself in trouble.

so the wife and I have a pretty old house that's in need of painting, and I'm in need of advice on a couple of things before I start picking away at it and making a weekend project into a year-long project. I've been noticing that when I scrape around windows, or around the trim on the corners...

    French drain location

Our house doesn't have gutters on the front and as a result when we get heavy rain it pools in certain areas which has resulted in the deck rotting. I'm hoping the studs are ok and I just need to get rid of the plywood and siding. The issue im having is that the house sits on the back corner of...

    couch repair

The center vertical post on the back couch is loose. I really don't want to have some one come in, or tear it apart. Is there a way I could maybe cut a slit in the fabric put in a screw and cover it up somehow?

    filing holes in wall

The cement wall in our basement has two holes where I think some gas or water came in the house. We've been noticing a lot of mice in the house and it looks like they're coming in through these holes. The holes go through the width of the wall and I'd like to cement them shut. Any thoughts on...

    got a flooring quote

Let me start with what happened and what needs to be done. When the previous homeowner bought the house he ripped up all the carpet in the basement and covered the whole floor in leveling cement because it was so pitted. The front half turned out pretty good but the further back you went the...

    What did you do today?

Had to run a couple of errands and spotted a power washer sitting at the curb for free. I stopped and checked it out gave it a couple of cranks and about two tablespoons of sludge and oil came out of the exhaust. I got back in the car and drove as far and as fast as i could.

    What did you do today?

Kind of makes me wonder if the previous home owners figured out what was going on found a way out and ran.

    What did you do today?

All those years of watching This Old House are finally paying off. Week before last the bathroom sink and tub were plugged. Then the kitchen sink got plugged so I used one of those plastic dollar snakes, the dang thing got stuck so we left to do what we had to do, came back water ever where...

    do i need this vent

That is an addition that was put on the house a long time ago, so it's just the original roof running underneath that and an insulated area above the ceiling. Where the Two roofs meet there is a decent gap, also there is another identical vent in about the same place on the other side.

    do i need this vent

I painted the siding that the roofers replaced when they did the flashing, and I noticed the siding below the roof was loose from the vent to about half way down. Well turns out the 2x4's under the vent are pretty well rotted out. It seems the placement, and neglect of this vent caused a lot of...

    Under counter trash

I put one of those under counter trash sliders in. The bottom of the counter is some kind of thin particle board. Combined with wife's tendency to pile drive the trash in the can it didn't hold out very long. I put some 1.5"ish deck screws in but that isn't going to hold to long. Am I going to...

    what plywood to use

I know it's not exactly house related, but I'm not sure where else to ask. I've been brain storming about what to do with the interior of my 47 Ford coupe, and I've seen online where people have used plywood for their door panels. I was thinking of using a plywood with a nice grain and a...
