2-Story House, 2 thermostats, heat pump

I've never had a house with 2 independent thermostats, so I've got questions. I have a Goodman split heat pump (GSZ14) and a Goodman packaged heat pump (GPH14M). Neither of my thermostats are of the smart variety (Honeywell T6). Nothing wrong with them, but I'd like to have an app to remotely control both of the thermostats wirelessly. Do I need to have two thermostats, or can I have one that controls both of the stories in my house? Thanks!

Something has to measure the temp at each location in order to adjust it.

You have two different heat pumps one for your first floor and one for the second. You need controls for each one. I have a similar set up with gas furnaces/electric AC a unit for the first floor and one for the second.
