Compressor hook-up to home

My compressor has a black, red and green wires. The green is just grounded to the electrical box of the compressor. The plug I had installed has 4 prongs on it. I bought a dryer cord that matches the plug and amp rating but, I don't know what wires go where???

Sounds like you have a 240V compressor. Green will be ground, red and black will be your two hots. You'll want to wire them to the two hots on your plug...
