As I recall, and I haven't seen one in years, their mechanism is similar to Delta's kitchen faucets of the time and are very easy to repair.

Turn the water off.

There is a notch in the under side of the handle and a small allen key will remove it, (some of the faucet repair kits sold will contain the allen key), you'll see a brass stub protruding from a removable cap, remove the large chrome trim, carefully remove the cap, the aforementioned stub is attached to a ball with a notch, beneath which will be 2 neopreme washers, which are actually neopreme caps fitted over 2 tapered springs, and those 2 caps are the offending parts.

Along with the repair kit containing the springs, caps and 2 large dia. washers, grab a small container of faucet lube.
