I had a new HVAC with a Google NEST thermostat installed as part of a renovation for my new condo. The NEST thermostat failed before the renovation even completed. The contractor who performed the renovation replaced the thermostat at his expense, but it was replaced with a cheap non-NEST thermostat with far fewer features because that was all he had available at the time.
We want to replace this placeholder thermostat with the same Google NEST thermostat we wanted originally, now that we have a new replacement handy. However, the contractor and his subcontractors are currently on vacation or not responding until the GC is back. Can we get any electrician to replace the placeholder thermostat with the Google NEST or do I need an HVAC specialist who knows my particular model HVAC really well? Or should I wait for my contractor to get back?
