gaps around windows

Hi there.

How should I fix these gaps? They seem too big for caulking and are pretty deep. My skill level: a bit handy but not a pro by any means.

Will it stick to the existing caulking?

Pick up some backer rod from the hardware store, push it in the gap then use the Sikaflex to top coat it. Backer rod is a flexible foam product. You can find it where they have the insulation usually.

Thanks! Is the backer rod good for vertical gaps?

Yes. It's just extruded foam. Cut it with a pair of sizzors or a utility knife.

If the gap is too fat for the backer rod to wedge itself tight, you can double it up and twist it like a spiral to make a big fat piece of it.
