paneling repair

The paneling around a door is coming away from the wall. what is the best
way to reattache it. I told my wife I can use liquid nails, but she wants to
get another opinion on how to fix it

Liquid nails is good. Especially if the paneling is a particle board type.
If it is a laminated type, wood glue may work better.
Keep a damp rag close by, to wipe off the excess that squeezes out.
This is a good way to repair tears and rips in the face of the paneling also.

Overall, the Liquid Nails is best used when the glue will not be able to find it's way out when pressure is applied.
Carpenter's wood glue is best when there's a chance that it may reach the surface.

OR, if it is too much of a chore to get the glue behind the paneling, you might consider getting some door casing just like you have and making another run around the door with the thick edges turned to each other. That will leave a small v-groove between the two but that simply keeps some minor un-eveness between the two from showing. Just another angle on the same problem.

You also for the easy way out, just bang some nails, use small finish nails, it'll hold and you won't even see the nails
