We have a mid century modern ranch with a typical very low sloped inverted v shape. We are wondering if it would be feasible to raise the pitch on one side of the roof to enable adding clere story windows through the center of the house. This would improve the exterior appearance and provide a lot of natural light to the home‘s interior. We are planning to do extensive renovations, including a re-roof anyway, so was wondering how much cost this would add to the project.

Welcome.
You'll need a set of plans and a structural engineer, prior to soliciting bids from general contractors.

As mentioned above you need to have a project that size designed with all the specs to hand off to some contractors for bids.

As to answering your question more directly, the answer is anything can be done. The how hard will it be involves how the structure of your house was made. If you have a truss roof it could mean taking the whole top of your house off and my guess is that’s going to be expensive.

You could get light in with sky lights and light tubes dropped down for a lot less cost. but that wouldn’t give you the higher vaulted look inside or the look from the outside.

Welcome to the forum.

The house is post and beam construction. We would be raising one side of the roof at the center beam. Thanks for hour input.

We will need to start with photos. P&B is a whole different skill set.

Contact a structural engineer, its worth the cost to have them write up a scope of work. Several hundred dollars will be a lot cheaper than damage caused by a not so well thought out plan.

P&B works on the principal of opposing forces, especially the roof rafters, so an engineer is required.
