rerouting water

We have an older house with an addition on the back, and I noticed that the water running off of the main roof is running down the side of the addition which is all wood siding and I'm thinking this is what was causing the rot problems. Is there a way to channel that water away where the roof meets the wall?

It's at the back of the house where the main roof butts up against the wall of the addition

Are you planning on putting a gutter up on the section that's missing?

Do you have kick out flashing along the wall?

I'm not sure what's up there as far as flashing goes. I thought about gutters but I'd have to close off that area somehow in order to install them
