Whats the best way to remove rust from my project car? I thought this would be a good question to ask in construction. Thanks

Sand blast it or media blast it. If it is rusted clear through the metal remove all of the rusted piece and replace it with new metal. Any other method such as sealing or "rust convertors" will eventually wear off and allow the rust to star back up. Thorough removal and replacement of the rusted metal is the only option if you want it gone forever.

If it's a relatively smooth surface, the black 3M nylon abrasive wheels, especially the ones that go in an angle grinder, work wonders... they're like an eraser for rust - just point it, and the rust goes away. For things you can't get one in, the smaller 3m surface prep discs are good. Sand blasting is good for odd shapes, but will leave a very poor surface behind.

Media blasting is the same as sand blasting, but using something other than sand. Glass beads or walnut hulls are often used.
