Hello everyone

So basically I know my front steps are SHOT but playing patch up jobs since I don't have 5k laying around , however , even though it says not to , would putting Thompson water seal over painted part of steps do anything ( good or bad ) I plan on if possible to use water seal than dry lock paint.

Or any other suggestions besides a sledge hammer to these things ?

Thanks

Issue with footings I found out when I added drain in my basement and had to take drywall down. Foundation directly below where stairs meets foundation is all built out inside .... Basically starts from top and comes down as the patch lines show.

Last year winter killed it ... Already heavily patched right side last summer ( in ny )

Water got into whatever cracks there were, than it froze and cracked more

OK got it now. I think you are fighting for a loss. What about the structural strength. It looks like you have doe repairs to the risers. Of coars that is a judgement call but You could replace them for a lot less than 5 K with treated wood.

Structure not good. Able to stick screw driver there pcs where I patched. It's a battle hopefully can last a winter or 2 more

I don't have a suggestion for a good seal, but I agree you need a good seal. I am thinking the worst result would be a failure while some one was on it.
