I am considering plinth blocks in lieu of mitering large molding for the sides of a kitchen island. The problem is that the molding will be five inches wide. I want rosette plinth blocks and a cutter large enough to make them would be expensive if available at all. I could turn the blocks on the lathe but getting four just alike could be problematic. I have a molding head cutter set like the one below. I am considering fashioning a lathe tool using an appropriate cutter to turn the rosettes. I need eight plinth blocks (four per side) so only four will be in view for comparison.
