I inspected the works.oil would not help but thanks for the wise tip.If you use any kind of oil remember to protect the floor from drips.
Good idea.The sound is most likely transmitted thru the feet to the floor. Add some stick on felt furniture pads and see if it helps.

Yes. After wrapping most of the works with insulation, secured with zip ties, there is about 95% noise reduction when evaluating. Going down noise is reduced about 10%. I think I know where the clang originates. More tests may confirm. Then I will have to develop a way to isolate the monster clang. Oh, with the insulation naturally shedding it will have to be wrapped with something. Plus I plan to seal the bottom with a layer of insulation covered on the bottom light cloth.Have you tried to figure out which are the guilty noise makers.
