Wiring Ceiling fan.

So this is was a mess of electrical tape now I am confused on how to put back it. I took it down because I am getting ready to paint and wanted to nut it properly and the giant mess of electrical tape prohibited a picture.

Fan Wires.
White neutral
black motor
blue lamp
green ground

Just back on the wall switch how it was.

Do you have a VOM, (volt, ohm meter) to verify what the wirenutted conductor are?

I'd speculate that the black & white, joined, are a switch leg.

The white is a neutral and the lone black may be the hot, of a hot pair.
