For years we used the Kenmore/Whirlpool washing machines. Our way of washing whites was to start with washcloths and towels with detergent and a low level of hot water go to wash cycle for a few minutes then let soak. After a good soak and maybe another short agitation or two if we thought to we would add T shirts and other whites select a cooler water for fill and back up to a full cycle setting. Our replacement washer is a GE and it has a mind of its own if you try to back up, reset or otherwise try to control the beast it dumps the water and starts over. My question is whether or not a more controllable washer exists? My guess is it would have to have an analog dial rather than computer control.
