I recently replaced an old 48” fluorescent kitchen light with a new LED fixture and it is way too bright. I’ve replaced the standard switch with a dimmer and it works as it should, however there are six other lights on the same circuit and the new LED light is still too bright when the others are dim. Is there a resistor or small in box dimmer I can wire directly to the light fixture to further dim the new LED light so all lights are closer in brightness? I’ve looked around some and haven’t found anything. Thanks.

The middle light is the one I added which is too bright. The task lights around are connected to the same circuit as well and get dim much quicker, so looking for a way to dim the center fixture.

If you have room inside the fixture for the dimmer you just bought you could mount it at the light and just control the LED lamp. Or you could find some kind of diffusing material and line the inside of the cover.

I switched out to LEDs in our kitchen and for a week they seemed way to bright, but we quickly got used to them. They also may have dimmed over time. Ether way we don't find them bright now.

I don't know how sophisticated or sensitive the constant current drivers for LEDs might be. I wonder if a diode in the 120V circuit would help or blow the driver electronics.

Thank you for the feedback. I decided it was a hassle to deal with and would be better to return the light. I got another one with an adjustable K rating (2,700/3,000/4000/5000) and not as bright. Why do things wrong once when you can do it again and get it right the second time. Story of my home improvement life.

That's the story of everybody's home improvement life! :) Sometimes for people like me, we got to try it three times

In my case I'd would have had to replace the recessed lights with 5k LED's, then the other fixtures on the 1st floor to match, then added under cabinet LED's, replaced the counter tops as I could now "SEE" all the defects and upgraded the TV to 8K - this is MY story of how replacing a $175 fixture cost me $25k 🤣😂🤣

I ordered an AC 220V 2000W Voltage Regulator from China (aliexpress.com) to have it on hand if I try to dim a LED FL replacement tube. The cost was $2.66 w/shipping. It will take a long time to arrive but I don't have an immediate need. I will just mount it on the housing as it's a hanging fixture in the garage. I hope I can just set it once and have it come on at the same level which can be easily changed if I need brighter.
