I have a 70's ranch home with a 25X6 porch ceiling in front. Original material was cheap plywood which we covered with vinyl siding soffit years ago. Approx 230 sq ft including soffits at either end of the patio.

We're trying to refresh the looks of the home and were considering replacing the porch ceiling and soffits with a wood look.

I was wondering about the possibly of using a prefinished engineered flooring instead of a traditional beadboard. Maybe even bamboo. Has anyone tried this? Any advice?

I had a relative install oak flooring on the ceiling above his dining room, and it turned out great looking. Use your imagination. It's your house....enjoy it!

Hard to control humidity for a tight fitting joint might be a problem with expansion. Maybe if you purposely leave a 1/16 gap at each joint or something. The but joints should be OK, if the length ever expanded it would push and find it's own gap.
