How to reinforce shower pan threshold?

Welcome to the forum. I think I would with that much slope build a dam across the front edge and pour a self-leveling mix in and create a level flat surface to work off of. Then when setting the pan use some stiffer mortar ad a bedding material to support the pan. I have never done this so...

    Cutler-Hammer 15amp gfci breaker

That was the jest of my above post. If you have more than one GFCI in line in a circuit say one on the main breaker and then one in the bathroom as an outlet with its LOAD powering any number of branches. When a trip condition happens you wont know what GFCI will trip or if they both might...

    Cutler-Hammer 15amp gfci breaker

Great tip and good info. Without going too off topic. When I have something remote like your roof heaters or even a light switch where the switch location doesn’t allow you to know if the light is on, I like to use a switch with a built in pilot light that lets me know it is on. The way my...

    Cutler-Hammer 15amp gfci breaker

I have mixed feelings about one GFCI breaker in the panel or having outlets spread around the house. In my case my panel is in the basement and it’s a century old house with a unfinished field stone basement, a door from the kitchen that normally stays bolted and some old time stairs to get down...

    Roofed pergola plan feedback

You can’t be too safe. When I was young and had my first apartment a second floor flat in the city. It was an old place that had a first and second floor front porch. I had a big party and invited the people downstairs as to not have them turn me in for noise. I was young and dumb and it was a...

    "Jumping" a battery

I don’t know for sure but I bought a new charger to keep on my tractor over the winter. All my old chargers just pump out juice and are not at all “smart”. This new does more than just charge the battery and has some smart features that help actually maintain the battery. I remember reading it...

Need help identify part and where to purchase

As posted above. Take your cartridge that you suspect is bad to your neighborhood Ace Hardware along with the manufacture of your valve and they will likely have a replacment. If they don’t they should be able to have one in stock within a day or two. Buying on line is an option but...

    Sealing & Painting Roof Flashing

A old roofer I knew always swore by a product called "Tinners Red" paint. Doing a Google search shows several versions of it and also alternatives.

    Roofed pergola plan feedback

If it were mine and again as post above it isn’t. I have a Sunsetter Awning that rolls up all winter. We have one and it gives great shade to our hot tub deck and we leave it up most of the summer months only closing it if there are expected high winds. Ours has a manual crank operator and it...

Construction & Structural Screw Length Curiosity

I have tried a lot of deck screws and found the Guard-Dogs to have a good strength to hardness ratio. They are also pretty easy to find where I live. When I first started using them they had a combination Philips/Square driver that came with the box of screws and actually outlived the number of...

    Flat riding mower tire

My friend had a scrap business and was always driving his skid steer over sharp metal and going thru tires all the time. He also used it for snow removal. He took his tires down to a place and had them filled with some kind of poly. It reminded me of what super-balls were made of as a kid. The...

    Shower grab bars

Finding framing behind a finished wall is always a problem. It would be nice if when building walls where they know they are to be covered people would do it with .5 plywood or at least add blocking where they would likely think it needed. I have seen a 100 TP dispensers tore from the wall over...

Construction & Structural Screw Length Curiosity

Cabinetry wood screws and structural “deck screws” are two totally different categories as are the “drywall screws”. They are all kind of interchangeable but each have a place. I have been told mixed messages about using structural screws as an alternative to nails as some feel they are too...

Construction & Structural Screw Length Curiosity

My go to screws for anything structural / nail replacement id the GaurdDog screw. They are designed for deck work but I use then anyplace I want a strong screw that’s easy to drive. They come 1.625, 2.00, 2.50, 3.00 & 3.50 lengths. I haven’t found too many times that one of those lengths...

    Bathroom Wall Repair

I had a similar reoccurring problem in our shower that the previous owner had put in that was a handicapped accessible shower. The fact is that’s just too close to have drywall next to a shower. I ended up ripping the drywall out and installing trim I made from both PVC lumber and PVC trims...

    Can I fix this?

Here is the product I would suggest. It is called rapid set Cement-All and can be found in the big apron and vest stores. On the web page there are some videos to watch that show what it is like to work with. I would as suggested clean it all up and get rid of the stuff not attached and then...

    Cork Wall

Ya it was the thing back then. They also did it in offices and thumb tacked little project cards on large cork boards. Kind of like post-it notes. Sometimes you just need to make a mess to get to an end result. The worst thing that could happen is you would have to redo the drywall.
