    How to fix aluminum siding

Thanks for the replies. The bondo idea isn't bad because it, along with some backer rod would be a good product to use to fill up 95% of the gap and then fill up the remaining gap with a small amount of caulk even though I originally wanted to avoid using caulk but that was because I didn't...

    How to fix aluminum siding

Forgot to mention I can't move the trim piece back in place by hand.

    How to fix aluminum siding

I think someone banged into this vertical piece of siding trim and pulled it away from the brick molding. I could caulk it but is there a better way to close the large gap? Sorry about the pics not being upright.

Opinions on this sump pump backup system.

This is in case the power goes out. The water could probably be controlled better but I live in a condo so I can't do what's necessary to fully control water flow.

Opinions on this sump pump backup system.

According to this chart, https://www.generatorjoe.net/html/wattageguide.html a 2/3 hp pump has a starting wattage of 3000, running 15000 but I think they added a zero - it should be 1500 I think.

Opinions on this sump pump backup system.

Would a 1500 watt inverter run a 2/3 hp pump?

Opinions on this sump pump backup system.

The inverter pictured is good for 1/2 hp pumps but they have another inverter for larger pumps for about $800. Unfortunately for me, I think I have a 2/3 hp pump meaning I would need the more expensive one:(

Opinions on this sump pump backup system.

I haven't tried it. It's $600 plus I would still need to buy a battery. Was just wondering if it's worth it or if there are similar but less expensive set ups available?

Opinions on this sump pump backup system.

This is not an ad. My sump pump pit is really tight making it difficult to squeeze in a backup so I found this set up. It allows you to use your existing sump pump if you lose power but connect up to 3 batteries for longer pump time and no need to plumb for another pump. When not needed, it...

    Hiding an outlet

Thanks for the ideas, I like both of them. I'll report back when I pick an option.

    Hiding an outlet

I plan to eventually route my baseboards to inset led strip lights. They plug into an outlet which will be controlled by a wall light switch. I want to build an accessible box that will contain the outlet but have it somewhat concealed near the floor, perhaps with a door. Any ideas?

Should I frame wall hung fireplace?

My question was regarding framing in the rear of the unit in order to put up drywall, the front is supposed to look like a picture or a wall hanging.

Should I frame wall hung fireplace?

It generates heat - it pulls in air from the bottom front and blows out from the top but it can also be used for just the visual effect w/o heat.

Should I frame wall hung fireplace?

Thanks for the replies. I'll just drywall around it and mount an outlet nearby.

Should I frame wall hung fireplace?

This electric fireplace sticks out about an inch from the framing. What I'm wondering is when I drywall the wall, should I enclose the rear of the FP or leave it open? It's an inside wall.

How can I direct melting snow away from my landing?

Perhaps a heated roof wire to allow the snow to quickly melt. Larger gutters. Gutter diverter.

    Damp basement floor

ok. I'll research some epoxies out there and see which will do the best job, thanks.

    Damp basement floor

Stadry, you've used an epoxy coating on basement slabs that would fail the taped plastic sheet test? If so, was there anything special about the epoxy?

    Damp basement floor

What happens when the moisture meets the epoxy? It seems like the pressure of the moisture will build up and if it does, what would happen?

What's this device on water heater?

Thanks bud. Yeah, if I went with any other setup than what I have now it would be a lot more work (including permits) but now that I understand what I'm dealing with, I'll just stay with my current setup.
