    Table Saw

I am in the process of building a combo miter saw/table saw workbench. I was originally planning to go with a hand-me-down Skilsaw for the workbench, but think I’d like to upgrade to one with dust ports and more safety features. Anyone have any recommendations? I’m currently looking between the...

    Finishing Basement

We are considering finishing our basement. There is a window that we would like to include in a room, however it is right next to our boiler. I can’t see how we can put a wall to the right of this window. I feel that it would be in the way whenever we would need the boiler serviced. Any...

    New AC Unit/Handler

Hello, I am being proactive about replacing one of our AC units due to the fact that it is R22 and I know it will be an issue in the coming years. I'm fairly certain our current unit is original to the house (1978). The house is dual zone, and the one I need to replace is for the upstairs...

    Attic Insulation

Sorry for the delay. I've attached some pictures. I'd ideally like to just do this myself, but all I really want to do is do a catwalk and service area. No need for the whole thing. R-38 insulation was added over R-11.

    Attic Insulation

We moved into our house a few years, and when we did the inspector told us we should get insulation in our attic. We had a company come out and blow insulation in, and I didn't think anything of it. Fast forward 3 years, we need a new AC unit, and the air handler is in our attic. I've had a...

    Supports?

The deck turned out nice, and did pass inspection, but the over all process, and condition the yard/area was left was pretty poor. Needless to say I will not be using that contractor again.

    Supports?

Thanks for the feedback! I was able to get in touch with the builder, and as stated, they were temporary to keep the post plumb - they were supposed to be removed upon completion. Thanks again!

    Supports?

I had a new deck installed last year. It's raised up a bit, and I want to clean out the underneath, as it was left a mess. 2 of the posts have these "supports" attached to them. None of the other posts do, and they honestly don't seem to be doing much - the wood isn't that sturdy. Can I...

    Baseboard heat and dry house

Thanks again. The upper level is open through the stairs, so would make sense to try that first.

    Baseboard heat and dry house

Thanks for the feedback! Would that be something I would need to install on each air handler? Or would the lower level be enough for the whole house? Only asking, b/c the upstairs air handler is in the attic, and getting a water line up there might not be that easy.

    Baseboard heat and dry house

Hello all, Looking for some advice/recommendations. We moved into our house a few years ago, and we have a boiler w/ baseboard heating. We have noticed during the winter that our house gets VERY dry. We've tried humidifiers in the bedrooms, and I purchased a large humidifier for up to 2000 sq...

    Leaking sink

It is a glacier bay 2 handle faucet. Very similar to this - just older

    Leaking sink

Minimal, but yes, there is some water leaking on the counter.

    Leaking sink

Not sure about the installation, b/c we just bought the house last year, but everything is tight from what I can tell. It's an old faucet, so I have to assume it worked for years fine - meaning it was installed properly. Next step is taking the faucet out, but was hoping to not have to do that.

I have a bathroom sink that is leaking from the spots circled in the picture. Any idea what could be causing this?

    Boiler Help - New Homeowner

Thanks for all the help and advice. It turned out to be air in the system. Purged it and all is working well again.

    Boiler Help - New Homeowner

Thanks for the replies - I do believe there are several valves leading off it, and I never considered that some may be shut off. I will check into that.

    Boiler Help - New Homeowner

Hello - looking for some advice on the boiler in our home. We are first time homeowners, purchased our house a few months back, and are trying to use the boiler for the first time. I have always had a furnace, so I have no experience or knowledge of boilers. The boiler itself is a 1971...
