    Improvisational Pan & Drainage Project

Good Day, Background: My main goal is to place tile in the shower area as shown in the image below. The reason for this is because the pre-made plastic platform did not fit with my drain hole so the only option is to lay everything with tile which I do not mind doing. The Problem: I need your...

    Nutcracker fiasco

All, Thank you for the ideas. I think I will start with getting some warm hide glue (I've never even knew it existed). From taking a surface read it seems to me that it is strong. Jeff Handy, I was also thinking of starting all over again and buying a new one but I come from the generation...

    Nutcracker fiasco

Good Day, I need advice on repairing my wooden nutcracker (photos attached). During New Year’s celebration nutcracker could not handle excessive use and cracked right in the middle. Does anyone have any ideas on how to best repair it? I don’t want to purchase a new one.

    Cannibalizing 240V Circuit

Happy New Year to All, Does anyone have any ideas regarding my previous post? It would be interesting to read how a veteran of the trade understands the issue.

    Cannibalizing 240V Circuit

Mike, You brought up a very good point. I only have one dual function, QO, 20A, Single-pole breaker (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Square-D-QO-20-Amp-Single-Pole-Dual-Function-CAFCI-and-GFCI-Circuit-Breaker-QO120DFC/204844647) in a non-bathroom area. The circuit is a dedicated circuit and does...

    Cannibalizing 240V Circuit

Looking through their data sheet these connectors are rated for 20 – 10 AWG. After installation, each wire was given a good tug to ensure each is tightly secured. Most reviews are positive about these connectors...

    Cannibalizing 240V Circuit

Good Day and Happy Holidays, Purpose: Splice two sets of 12AWG (BLACK, WHITE, Bare GND) to one set of 10AWG (BLACK, RED, WHITE, Bare GND). One set will connect to one receptacle and the other set will connect to another receptacle in another bathroom. My plan: 1. Use the 3-way connector...

    Cannibalizing 240V Circuit

bud16415, That is why I am here, to get the feedback and learn about the process. I just asked a question in my previous post and would like to get a reasonable answer.

    Cannibalizing 240V Circuit

Neal, Thanks for the feedback. This is the breaker I will purchase. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Square-D-QO-20-Amp-2-Pole-Circuit-Breaker-QO220CP/100032386 Also, would you suggest to feed one receptacle from one of the legs (e.g. from black and white, plus GND) and another receptacle in a...

    Cannibalizing 240V Circuit

Nealtw, Yes, that is a good idea. But if we only had the option to install a fuse, which one would you go with? Panel mount vs. in chassis mount? P.S. this is a photo of my box with the wiring inside. Also, I have sample images of fuse carriages with two types of mounting methods. I just...

    Cannibalizing 240V Circuit

Good Day, I need your help and advise regarding installation of a 20A, HTB series fuse holder (with fuse) inside of a box. The project will be done in a residential home, 240/120V, in the United States. Scope of Application: I have a NEMA 10-30R receptacle in one of my bathrooms for what...

    Circuit replacement [15A to 20A]

nealtw, I understood you. We take our single phase and divide it into two legs. The range uses both of those legs but it is only one, single phase. If the double pole breaker, to which my range is connected, takes up slots 1 & 3 that means it is connected to both legs where the voltage between...

    Circuit replacement [15A to 20A]

nealtw, Ok, so my range which uses 240V, connected to double pole breaker (slots 1 & 3) uses both legs (phases) for power. Slot 1 would be Phase A and slot 3 would be Phase B. Please confirm. What is the difference between a leg and a phase?
  15. Q

    Unbalanced amperage

hornetd, I appreciate your detailed reply. Essentially, the safety ‘buffer’ we have is that loads must be running on both phases simultaneously in order to have the current through the neutral be minimal. In situations when loads on one leg consume more current than on the other would result in...

    Circuit replacement [15A to 20A]

    nealtw, Yes, the Range, Dryer, and A/C are all 240V, double pole breakers on one Phase. Range = BKR (SLOTS 1 & 3) A/C = BKR (SLOTS 9 & 11) Dryer = BRK (SLOTS 5 & 7)
  17. Q

    Circuit replacement [15A to 20A]

JoeD, Ok, I agree with you on adding up breakers. However, all of my breakers on the right are even numbered and all of them on the left are odd. I believe that means one side corresponds to Phase A and the other side to Phase B. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.
  18. Q

    Unbalanced amperage

    Why NO?
  19. Q

    Circuit replacement [15A to 20A]

Good Day, Looking at my circuit breaker panel (attached) I have 180A capacity on left leg and 170A on the right leg. If I decide to hire an electrician to replace my entire circuit #2 with a 20A capacity circuit, is that something that is feasible considering the already uneven currents on both...

    Unbalanced amperage

Hello experts! I have a question about my circuit breaker panel. Could someone tell me why exactly the smarter than me individual(s) decided to put 180A on the left leg (sum of all circuit breakers) and 170A on the right leg? Would this be an unbalanced situation and overload the neutral...
