    In need of assistance with how to go about widening the opening on this brick wall by about half a foot. I have a lintle on the backside half but not the front.

    Looks like a keystone arch, which supports itself. Making that wider means destroying the current arch and rebuilding.

    I’m a person that a great many times will advocate DIY approach to a structural problem. This is in my opinion not a case for it to be done DIY.


    Find a pro that is a structural engineer and have it evaluated and an action plan made.
