Broken Mirror

I have a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder and my wife accidentally hit the side view mirror on a tree and shattered the mirror. Can I just replace the mirror or do I have to replace the whole thing? I think she may have damaged the plastic part a little but not bad.

Also, can I get a replacement at Auto Zone or something like that or do I have to get ahold of a Nissan dealership?

Junkyards are usually cheapest. I'd have to dig out my service manuals to check on a pathfinder mirror, but often replacing just the mirror glass is difficult compared to replacing the whole assembley. If it's a power mirror, there's also a very good chance the mechanism was damaged. (they somehow always use ultra-flimsy plastic gears...)

I think most times the whole damn thing has to be replaced. I think your best bet would probably be through a Nissan dealership.
