I thought the post title might capture some attention. I work as a handyman and a couple asked me to straighten out the chimney portion of their range hood vent. When I looked inside I saw the contractor they hired used a piece of cardboard to direct the exhaust out the back, exterior wall. He taped it in place with blue painter's tape. I posted a few pictures of it. You can see how it's bent to redirect the air. If it helps any, the cardboard is from a box of Angelsoft toilet paper. I fixed it by using the appropriate ductwork and proper duct tape. Just wanted to ask this group what you think the hazards might be of using cardboard to vent exhaust from a kitchen range. For what it's worth, the range was being used like this for almost 2 years
