Does my Plan Seem Ok?

The north side of my house has quite a few spots that need repainting. But overall, it looks pretty good. I really don't want to take every inch of clapboard down to bare wood. This is my plan:

- Scrape and wire brush off only areas with loose or peeling paint.
- Sand entire surface enough so new paint adheres.
- Wash entire surface with anti mildew spray and rinse well.
- Repair any cracks and broken clapboards.
- Spot prime the scraped and repaired sections.
- Any clapboard with primer gets top coated entirely.

Does this seem reasonably promising?

Wire brush isn't going to do anything. Use real paint scraper and putty knife. If paint is lifting, you can get under it with a putty knife and it will be less work than the scraper. You don't really need to sand, but it won't hurt, and might look better. After wash and rinse, go over the wall again, looking for loose paint. If you are suggesting painting only the primered boards, that is not going to work --- you need to paint the entire wall.

Oh boy, do I use a real scraper! I’m looking to save some time, so if there is paint that’s stable and in good shape, I’ll leave it. If the spot priming turns out to be a mistake,?then I’ll have leaned something.
