I have a couple outdoor ceiling fans on my deck. I put them up several years back and haven't had much problem with them

Took the blades off for the winter.

Just recently I had some deck repair done to an upper level deck and I have a fan I'd like to put up there too. It would be sitting about 8ft higher. Not the tallest thing around (under trees and beside a loft above my garage), but pretty much an all metal structure I'd weld up similar to the one pictured. I'm wondering if I need to run a ground from it to the ground. I have some grounding rods, so I'd just need the cable. Or would grounding it just make it more attractive to lightning?

I never did this with the lower ones. Would it be good to do them also? Thanks.
