How do I determine why my fan and light aren't working?

Just bought a new house.

The fan and light in the kitchen aren't working.

Foolish question..I know, but did you make sure that both switches on the fan are on when you use the wall switch?

No, they're all on.

No, they're all on.

Some time breakers look like they are on after tripping and have to be fully turned of before they turn back on.
You have checked the bulbs?
You have pulled the chains?
You have tried pulling chains with the switch in the off position?
Does the fan have a separate switch?
Have you looked everywhere for a gfci outlet that is tripped?
