Have less than a 1/2 inch shiver gap between ceiling right above shower. Tried filling the gap with mud but no success. The mud keeps cracking after application. Any suggestions. I thought about sanding it down and covering it with some simple crown molding trim. Any suggestions or improvement

Before placing the top row of tile I would have placed a strip of mesh drywall tape into the corner and mudded it in. The mesh acts as a reinforcement to keep the corner closed.

Or add a small slice of the tile all the way to the ceiling

When I was laying out my shower I measured down from the ceiling and put a ledger that I worked up from to reach the ceiling. Now I have a partial tile to put in at the floor of the show. In your case, I'd probably get a piece of vinyl cove trim and install that to close the gap after you finish the ceiling.
