vs. a large engine.
Should I use an engine/gen combo or use a tractor or car engine to power a gen?
IMO:
A gen is such a small load for a tractor that the portion of maintenance needed to cancel out the gen load would be very small.
It’s something like downshifting to use the engine compression to slow the car rather than using brakes.
Slowing by compressing the cylinder mixture involves very little wear, unlike wearing down the brake pads.
It might be a toss up. What say you?
