We recently replaced our doors at our condo. The paint on the doors is soft and easily marks and nicks. We have been told that this may be because our contractor did not prime them first. The doors are fiberglass and the paint was Sherwin Williams super paint.

I would appreciate any advice on fixing this problem. Some have suggested spraying a clear coat that would provide the hardness we desire

Thank you

A clear coat will just peel when exposted to the eliments.
Contact the manufacture of the door for advice.

When paint doesn't do what paint is supposed to do - remove it all and start over with a good scrubbing.

In the past I've had great success with the use of acryllic water-based latex primer and paint. . . and I don't paint anything if it's going to be over 50% humidity outside. . . so that means nothing during the summer around here.
