Vinyl flooring on the walls?

One side of the stairwell has nice barn board. The other is a painted concrete wall. Can you use vinyl flooring that looks like wood on the walls? How do you keep it there?

There are some vinyl planks that are designed to be glued to walls. They are backsplash planks usually. You want to look for ones that don't have a built-in underlayment & that can be glued in place.

I have put carpet on walls several times but never vinyl.

I thought it was weird, but apparently there are some made specifically as backsplashes. They tend to be expensive though.
