Ron, do you use any special tools to move the wiring? Or do you have attic access?

I have attic and crawlspace access which makes things a lot easier but I also have a six foot long 3/4” drill bit for drilling up through walls and top plates. It is fairly flexible. Once you drill through to the attic (or crawlspace), there is a little hole at the tip of the drill bit to tie a string to. Then you pull the bit back out and you are left with a string from the attic to the new outlet or switch or whatever you are installing.

Back to the wiring thing, I need to run all new wires. Not a single outlet has a ground wire.

Running new wires is best but if you can’t get to them or they are hard to get to, installing a GFCI breaker with Arc fault is allowable and IMHO better.

As an aside, the diatomaceous earth has been killing some of the roaches in the kitchen. I need to spread it around more aggressively in the most infested areas though. Like Mom's desk. Just have to make sure it doesn't get into her keyboard.

Today I ordered curbside pickup from Walmart. I ordered just enough to hit the $35 mark to get free pickup. They substituted something that brought it down to $34 so they charged $6.99 for pickup.

That's weird, there is no fee for pickup here. I always have to pass Walmart on shopping trips, so I might pick up something small like a potato peeler and that's all I have to order. It's probably that store's policy. I would write Corporate and complain.

It's $35 minimum to ship to me.

I have one of those reusable air filters for my furnace: you take it out, run water over it, spray it with some special stuff, let it dry, and put it back in.

But I've always wondered: how long am I supposed to let it dry? I tilt it and give it a few shakes to get out as much water as I can, but it seems like it would take all day for it to actually get completely dry if I just set it on a counter or something. Meanwhile am I supposed to just let my furnace run without a filter? What's the deal?

Set it in the Sun for a few hours and put it back in the furnace... Turn the Heat on for 10 minutes.

What is the special stuff you spray it with? I don't do that and my filter doesn't ask for it.

One idea is to hang these pictures on each side of the headboard which would cover the CB box.

I don't remember ever seeing a CB box inside a house. Always in the garage wherever I have lived.

Sadly, that is a common thing throughout history. Hieroglyphs in Egypt were scratched out and statues destroyed. Trying to erase previous regimes. It always made me sad when history was lost. On the statues, I can understand some of it and why certain ones would be offensive to certain people, but IMO slapping a plaque on it to explain the history would be better than tearing them down. Or moving them to museums when possible.

Spicoli, the prices at my local walmart tend to be higher than other stores too. They also do not do deliveries to homes like some Walmarts. They don't even check ID and often don't even ask your name when bringing your curbside order out.

I needed a few things before I took a shower (my deodorant disappeared once again-- I think maybe my brother might have taken it). I briefly talked to the pharmacist to ask about whether or not my brother's insurance will cover a Dexcom G6 blood sugar meter bc he's having a hard time getting his regular meters to read the test strips. He said he'd look into it and call me back.

It was really pouring here today and I decided to document a brief part of my drive home and show how I got an undercarriage wash. The loud thudding started after I took it to the dealership and they messed with the tires.

I made it in just as the rain started coming down hard. Thunder and lightning are kicking up now.

Installed the ceiling fan today after church and before family dinner. I’m not going to put the blades on the fan until we’re done moving all the furniture around. Tomorrow, I’m going to give the floor a good cleaning and clean up the CB box cover. Then we will move the bed over and start the other side of the room. That’s when it gets fun.

They work fine without a ground. The GFCI/Arc fault breakers just need the hot (like normal) and they have a pigtail that connects to the neutral buss. The CB compares the hot to the neutral and if there is a difference it means the current is going somewhere it’s not supposed to and trips the breaker. Normally, the hot and the neutral should have the same current going through them. They are much faster than a regular breaker.

A 3/8” Chuck will work.

Eddie, when I looked at the notice from my particular store it said any order under $35 would have a $6 charge, but then it put on $6.99.

Mom asked me to take her to the ER because she couldn't keep anything down & her blood pressure and blood sugar spiked. They had to give her meds for nausea and then something to lower her bp. They did an IV drip-- but they had to stick her about 6x and went through 3 different nurses trying to get the IV in. They ended up having to get a smaller needle. Diagnosis was food poisoning. The fish from the local place tasted weird to her and she said she felt sick 30min later but didn't say anything to me about it. My brother and I both felt sick afterward but not as badly. I'm debating whether or not I should contact the place to let them know their fish was bad that day. I doubt they would care & I don't want them to get in any trouble, but a visit from the health dept may be in order. I haven't been able to get back to sleep.

Every reusable filter I looked at included use of the spray ("sold separately") in its instructions, printed on the side of the filter. I figure it's probably a single chemical (or cocktail of chemicals) I could buy separately, & mix together myself if need be, for less money but I haven't done the sleuthing yet because for whatever reason I'm willing to part with the $14 on this one even though for other things I'm not. If I remember/have a chance/feel like it I'll look at the bottle and let you know what's in it.

Looks nice! I really like the can lights in a room. They really brighten things up and most are dimmable. They make the space look modern and new.

Does that plastic light box straddle that 2x4? Are the lights LED? I know the LED lights are so thin you can put them under a joist because they are only the thickness of a piece of sheetrock.

PS...Don't forget your tape measure up there!

Ruby used to get a lot of stuff from Craig's List but since we moved to Alabama, it's Facebook Market Place. The mirror on the dresser she found in California. It was in a shed and a little rough but we saw the value immediately and bought it. Ruby refinished it and I mounted it on an existing dresser using 1/2" electric conduit and galvanized clamps on the back. It has held up very well even during the 2,400 mile move from California to Alabama.

That is a Hope Chest and it does open. Ruby stores memorabilia in it like her cheerleading outfit, our kids baby stuff, etc. but you could put blankets and spare pillows in there. Normally, I think people would put a hope chest at the foot of their bed but we don't have room enough to do that.

Food poisoning happens occasionally but if it is a regular occurrence then something needs to be done. Your mom probably isn't going to want fish for a while. I hope she feels better soon but she needs to be careful at her age.
