Hi all,

Just bought a condo and this is my first post here. We're in the process of installing TV and internet. We have what I thought was a co-ax outlet that had been painted over, but when I popped the wall plate off this morning to change it, now I'm not so sure. Has anybody seen this arrangement before? Is this co-ax? Is this normal?

Thanks for your help,

KR

That looks more like some kind of indicator light. I would talk to others in the building to see if anyone knows or if other have the same.

It's a coax TV connector. It's been painted over many times, but it originally looked like this.

The building must have been wired for cable TV or possibly whole building antenna system.
It might have also been for a video monitor at the front door.

But it is more than a coax cable since typical cable outlets are not connected with a diode connecting them together.

There are no diodes in the pictures. There are resistors and capacitors that I believe are for impedance matching.

I guess you are right and not diodes. Maybe I should have just called them doohickeys, which I guess is a better definition.
