The Whirlpool icemaker, when it feels up with water the water keeps running, until it overflows inside the freezer side of the refrigerator and into the floor. Is it the flow valve?
They are expensive and how can you check to make sure the valve is bad?

An appliance model # would be of assistance.

Wife and I are considering new kitchen appliances. They are 24yrs. old and still working. We are very hesitant to buy new because it seems like the newer stuff breaks a few days outside of manufacturer warranty and I don't have the diagnostic equipment to talk to the computers inside of them. If it breaks, I'll be paying for the repairs and imagine they are not cheap.
For your situation, I would think they would use some type of timer, mechanical float system or flow switch that is sticking,

From the parts manual, the water control is electronic and controlled by a circuit board.
