My question is, why is there such a large gap and how can I fix this (not using weatherstrip)? For whatever reason I wanted to mention my window screen frame has a spring mechanism to make it easy to come out on the side which exacerbates the gap.

I’m pushing for them to get a larger window screen frame but I’m told (the runaround) that their hands are tied and that these window screen frames come with the window. Can I buy window screen frames individually that will fit snug and properly?

Sure, just measure the top, middle and bottom, as well as the height and have them made, at your local screen shop.

I have several like that and it is an error in the design IMO. The frame strength is not enough when they make such a tall screen and the tension of the screen pulls the center in. The frames should be divided in half at least.

I don’t really have a fix for it. I have one where I put some white duct tape on the outside. You could try making a center brace to force the bow out and attach it to the frame.

Or get some new screens made and make sure they put the screen material in without pulling the frame.
