I want my ceiling fan (no light kit) to run independently from my can lights. I was hoping to tap into one of the cans . I wired these cans a few years ago but am no expert on wiring. I want to know what's involved before i climb into the attic.

All the cans are piggy-backed off the one can that's wired to the wall switch.

When I wire the fan, can i tap into any light or does it have to be the first can attached to the switch?

I plan to operate the fan by remote and not use a wall switch.

If the power went to the switch first, you are out of luck. If you have more than one white and black in the switch box start plan B

I also have a pull string light in my attic, could I use that?

The pull string light would have constant power so yes you should be able to pull power from that.

Also if the power comes in the light fixture where the switch connects you could be able to pull power from there also.
