Clueless Girl's Dead Garbage Disposal - Replacing Doable?

Hi Guys (and I guess I should say Gals!)
well, my garbage disposal doesn't make a sound when i flip the switch. no motor sound. I checked the fuse in the basement and it seems ok- didn't flip.
So seems like I need to buy and install a new one. But it's a mess down there? do people usually do these themselves or hire someone to do it?
I can't even see where the end of the power cord goes- goes into the wall and disappears but I assume its to an outlet that gets turned on with the switch. If its a doable job for a NON-handy person- please let me know what you think. any recommended videos? recommended EASY to install?

You may need a mirror to find it, but I would guess that you simply need to push the reset button on the bottom of the garbage disposer. Typically, the button is in a recessed area on the bottom.

Try that first and re-post the results.

The button will be red and you should be able to feel it, because if tripped will protrude below the surface plane.

In the center of the bottom there will also be an orfice for an allen wrench. if you do not have a set, or the single which comes with the appliance, they are both available from a hrdw. store.

I would try turning that shaft first to make sure it turns freely.
Checked to see if a GFI has tripped?
