Are double interior closet doors standard width?

Hello,
We’re finishing up replacing our interior doors but have run into a snag. We have three closets left; all are double interior doors. I measured the width, and they’re 23 3/4” wide. My plan was to just remove the old, buy the new prehung, and put those in place as the hinge mortises are in the right place on the new doors and old jambs. The problem is the new doors measure 24”?? I can’t imagine these are custom made, because they’re pretty cheap feeling, but they’re definitely wider by 1/4”. There’s definitely not a 1/2” gap between the two old doors to make room for new.

I’m trying to stay away from replacing the old doors and jamb with new prehung double doors, as all the base trim is brand new, and probably wouldn’t fit right on the new jambs.

Measure and cut the new doors at 23-3/4, but cut the line off, which should gain about 1/8" . I'd chamfer the cut slightly and you can clean it up, if necessary, with a plane or sander.

I thought about that since we’ll be painting the doors anyway, but do typical interior hollow core doors have enough “meat” to take off material on the non-jamb side?

They are generally an inch +, depending on the vendor, so Id cut the other side.
