The teeth will not open? What happend I was drilling a pilot hole the bit slipped out and now the teeth won’t release

Going to have to put it in reverse, grip it and bump the the trigger a few times.
 
I think I have used a grip clamp (with rubber pads) and given the clamp a little impact with a mallet or piece of wood.
 
These sometimes stick and the reason all my drill motors are the type with a chuck key. Try as mentioned holding the chuck tightly and bumping it in reverse. If that doesn't work try tapping on the ends of the jaws and then repeat the reverse trick. If that doesn't work try spraying some WD40 into the works and see if that helps.
