So, I have an opening to my basement that is only 1 1/2" wider than the new metal exterior Jeld-Winn door we bought. The opening is close to plumb so my question is since there's not enough room to frame it with wood, can I just shim the pre-hung door to the concrete walls (I'll be using mason screws and then seal with foam)? I don't know what else I can do because it is a metal door in a 1" wood frame jam and the cement is 75 years old and has very little if any moisture in it.
Anyone have a predicament like this that can help advise is most appreciated!

I'm no expert but I did build my own house. I didn't install any prehung doors but IMO shims with your stated clearance should work out OK.

Rip some strips 3/4" X 1" and attach those to the concrete.
Install the door, attach to the wood filler strips.
