We just had our kitchen remodeled and wanted a range hood installed that goes to the ceiling. The company installing the backsplash was to have installed it up to the ceiling which would have meant removing the crown molding, which they told me they would. They did not remove the crown molding and have also refused to install the hood, which they originally said they would do. Today I managed to install the hood but the ceramic and glass tile backsplash only runs to the bottom of the crown molding. In order to fully install the enclosure around the duct I will have to cut away about 13" of crown molding.
What type of tool (reciprocating saw or dremel with circular sawblade or ???) would work for this? I am hoping to accomplish it without damaging the crown molding on either side of the stainless enclosure. The bottom edge of the molding is up against the backsplash, too, making access from below impossible.
