The bend sure looks like it is at bumper height. Replace the damaged post and put a 4x4 post about a foot ahead of the post, you could even make it sacrificial by drilling a large hole in the post so it would break off if someone backed into it to minimize damage to the car. Or put bumper blocks around the post, but they'd need to be far enough out to hit the tires before the bumper hits the structural post of the carport.
