I just saw two articles right next to each other: "Agitator top load washers are far superior to impeller models". "Impeller models are far superior to agitator ones". So I stopped the debate. Ended up getting an impeller machine. I had previously circled clothes carefully around the agitator. Now I thought I could just throw clothes in and be done with it. But no. The manual says to load clothes around the outside of the tub. Anyone know why?

My brother has one and it tends to go through some motions to distribute the clothes evenly before it adds the water. Because the units spin at a pretty high RPM the load needs to be balanced.

I know the impeller models use less water than the agitator models, but more than a front loader. We've been happy with our Whirlpool Duet front loader.

Cops do something called "running out the alibi."

See if you can eke out the reasons for each claiming they're the best but that may not be possible.
