Lately it seems to need dial turned to 10 to get heat of a 4... then I tried the oven to heat a frozen pizza and its elements wouldn't heat at all...
Power company gave us the new smart meter a few days ago so I wondered if that was connected to the problem...
Also, these Caloric electric ranges need the the Cycling Relay contacts on the rear cleaned about every 10 years... although I thought that only concerned the oven... this thing is going on 50 years old...
So I started into that contacts cleaning project, got the rear panels off, decided to also check the incoming voltages... got 123 volts one side, 35 volts other side... cleared a way to the basement fuse box... good power coming in... 35 and 50 amp fuses in range fuse carrier... 35 amp is dead... apparently was getting a slight low amperage voltage reading through another path at the range, maybe a relay coil or light... put in a 60 amp I had, made a note to get some more 50's and 60's, prolly have to go to an electrical specialty store... cleaned the contacts, put everything back together, cleaned up, cooked the pizza, and enjoyed it... had worked up an appetite by then...
Still shell shocked that Ohio State got eliminated in 1st Round of March Madness basketball...
