possible built in shelf space by bay window

    We have a bay window in our bedroom. We were wondering if the walls on either side could be used for built in bookshelves. The window sits about two feet in, how can we find out out without making too big of a mess if there is room in the walls for this type of thing.

    Well the wall on both sides is 2x6.
