Question on wire type

I put a subpanel in my garage for shop circuits. In planing outlets for shop equipment, I noticed the 12/2 UF-B tends to be less expensive than 12/2 NM-B cable. UF-B can be used in dry locations in addition to being suitable for direct burial and use in wet locations.

Is there any reason I should not use UF-B for the branch circuits in my garage the same way I would normally use NM-B?

I can think of no reason not to use the UF-B. I used 10/2 UF for one run of electric heat when I built my house. It was harder to strip. It passed inspection but I haven't paid any attention to code changes since then. Maybe an electrician will chime in now that you're bumped to the top of the list.

UF-B & NM-B can be used interchangeably when used indoors.
